Urgent: a new Ebola vaccine will be made in Singapore. Please add your name

Thank you for supporting our call for transparency from HSA. HSA has just been given new powers over Ebola, anthrax and plague, and a new Ebola vaccine is now to be produced in Singapore.

On 24 September, at the United Nations, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung announced that Hilleman Laboratories in Singapore will produce a new Ebola vaccine for clinical trials, using the rVSV platform. Hilleman is a 50-50 joint venture between US drug maker MSD (Merck) and Britain's Wellcome Trust, and the vaccine is funded by up to US$8.5 million from CEPI.

Four days later, US Senator Rand Paul released Dr Anthony Fauci's private diary and emails from March 2016. In a US Army study, monkeys were given a VSV Ebola vaccine, then exposed to Ebola in the air. Dr Fauci wrote that "the VSV vaccine did not protect (no surprise)" and "16 of 20 vaccinated animals died". The vaccinated monkeys had "necrosis, inflammation and fibrin in the lungs"; the 2 unvaccinated monkeys died too, but their lungs were clear. When embassies in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone heard, they "went bonkers". Dr Fauci wanted the experiment classified.

To be fair, this was a laboratory aerosol study of an earlier VSV vaccine, not the new Singapore candidate. That is exactly why MOH must publish every animal and human safety result before anyone in Singapore receives it.
