I've seen firsthand the upsetting reality of cows being tied up in their stalls, living their lives in confinement for dairy production. As an animal lover, the undeniable cruelty deeply unsettled me. It was devastating to witness the distress they endured for the sake of our breakfast cereals and lattes. But the harmful effects of the dairy industry extend beyond the animal's wellbeing. It also incredibly degrades our environment. 

Conventional dairy farming has become a major contributor to climate change; it releases a significant amount of methane into the atmosphere. Methane has 28 times more potent global warming potential than carbon dioxide, consequently aggravating the global climate crisis (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, 2014). Additionally, rampant deforestation to create land for cattle grazing releases a lot of CO2. 

Ensuring the dairy we consume comes from sustainable farming practices is not just about better treatment of animals. It's a necessary step in protecting our planet. Under these circumstances, the request for supermarket chains to offer only sustainably sourced dairy is crucial. I plea for supermarkets to source and sell dairy products from farms that employ humane treatment of animals and adhere to sustainable, eco-friendly practices. 

It is time we showed compassion to the creatures we share our world with and concern for the world we live in. Therefore, I urge you to unite and call for urgent action by signing this petition.
