I am a local skateboarder in Florida. It has come to my attention that, unlike the majority of skate parks in our state, some still require a fee for access, causing undue burden on our community. Skateboarding is more than a hobby for many. It is a passion and an essential outlet for creativity and physical activity. As such, it should not be a privilege granted only to those who can afford the associated costs – it should be a right for all.

According to the Tony Hawk Foundation, there are currently over 500 free public skate parks in the United States, making skateboarding accessible for all, regardless of socioeconomic status. Despite this, several skate parks in our local area insist on charging access fees, creating an unnecessary barrier.
