A husky dog in our community has prompted this petition as it has suffered from unnecessary neglect for more than a year. Its living conditions are inhumane, left outdoors day and night, in temperatures as low as -50 degrees, chained to a short, 3-foot lead. It's heartbreaking to know that the local bylaws consider providing merely food and water as satisfactory, while the animal possesses no shelter and isn't even allowed off the deck it's tied to.

Despite offers from compassionate neighbors to walk the dog and provide a bed and toys, the owners have shown nothing but aggression and have rudely dismissed the matter. **the dog has been brought inside now after all this attention...God knows what goes on inside the house**

Animal neglect is not just about physical harm but includes denying basic needs like shelter, company, and freedom to express normal breed behavior. According to the SPCA, every year almost 100,000 animals suffer due to neglectful conditions. This situation epitomizes such neglect and outright animal abuse, despite the so-called 'minimal requirements' set by our bylaws.

We demand that adequate amendments are made in our local legislation to protect animals from such unjust conditions and saved from abusive owners. We implore our local council to take immediate action to amend bylaws to protect animals better. To the standards they deserve, not just enough that they survive.
