Regardless of political preference, every voter has the power to make Elder and Disability Justice a priority by speaking up. When we raise our voices, we shine a light on the grave systemic failures that continue to endanger elderly and disabled residents in Georgia – and across the nation.

These systemic failures didn’t catch Georgia’s elected officials by surprise. They are well aware that elderly and disabled residents have long been at risk due to unchecked violence and abuse. Yet too often, our elected officials respond with silence, inaction, deflection, or worse, indifference.

SPEAK OUT:

No matter where we reside, we must continue to courageously speak out – clearly and boldly – against the violence and abuse targeting elderly and disabled individuals. We have the power to make this a national priority.

POWER TO DEMAND CHANGE:

Nothing will change until people, who truly believe in justice, human dignity, and fairness, speak up and demand better.

It’s up to us – not just as voters, but as concerned relatives, neighbors, advocates, and community members – to contact our officials currently in office and those seeking election to demand real solutions.

We have the power to demand better for our elderly and disabled loved ones, our friends, our neighbors, and for those we may never meet.

Together, we can fight for meaningful policy reform, real accountability and sustainable solutions to stop violence and abuse.

NEXT STEPS:

In the coming days, we will begin sharing ways to take action together. We’ll be calling for:

• Federal Oversight
• Overhaul of Georgia’s Adult Protective Services
• A Special Elder Abuse Prosecution Unit in Georgia
• Congressional Hearings
