As promised, the fight for #Justice4DaisyAlford is a fight for all elderly and disabled individuals. We’re taking the next step – starting today:
Demand a Special Elder and Disability Abuse Prosecution Unit in Georgia.
WHY THIS MATTERS?
- Justice should never depend on a zip code or political connections.
- Elderly and disabled Georgians deserve equal protection – in all 159 counties.
- Georgia’s Adult Protective Services is overwhelmed, lacks prosecutorial authority and has failed to protect those most at risk.
- Offenders can harm elderly and disabled residents with impunity.
- Local and state agencies have unchecked discretion to ignore serious, prosecutable crimes.
- Federally-protected rights for elderly and disabled persons are not upheld.
- Violence and abuse are too often ignored, minimized, misclassified, or left uninvestigated.
THE SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION:
Establish a Special Elder and Disability Abuse Prosecution Unit – an independent, statewide team – with the authority, expertise and resources to investigate and prosecute crimes without political interference or undue influence.
In Georgia, it must be clear: No one is above the law. If you harm an elderly or disabled person, you will be prosecuted.
TAKE ACTION NOW! CONTACT GEORGIA'S ELECTED OFFICIALS!
No matter your political preference, urge Georgia’s elected officials and candidates for office to:
- Support the creation of a Special Elder and Disability Abuse Prosecution Unit.
- Make Elder and Disability Justice a priority.
Note: If contacting officials through their websites, select “share opinion or views” — not casework. Or call their offices or contact them on social media.
