Demand Fair Treatment and Safe Learning Environment at Jinks Middle School

Demand Fair Treatment and Safe Learning Environment at Jinks Middle School
The Issue
Bay District Schools, Jinks Middle School Administration, and the Office of Constituent Services
We, the concerned parents, students, and community members, call on Jinks Middle School to address serious concerns regarding the unfair treatment of students, mishandling of bullying cases, and lack of due process in disciplinary actions.
The Issue:
Jinks Middle School has failed to properly investigate bullying incidents, resulting in unfair suspensions and punishment of victims instead of holding aggressors accountable. One such student, 11-year-old Antwan “Demi God AJ” Harrison from The Demi Godzz, has been subjected to ongoing harassment, including:
• Severe bullying by students, including physical aggression, homophobic slurs, and online harassment via anonymous social media accounts.
• Failure by school staff to properly investigate incidents, leading to wrongful suspensions.
• Targeting by school officials, including a suspension issued without reviewing key evidence.
• Lack of academic support during suspensions, leaving students behind in their coursework.
• Teachers engaging in unprofessional behavior, including one teacher (Ms. Sowell) antagonizing students in class, and another (Ms. Krumel) who was fired for unethical grading practices and mistreatment of students.
• Failure to address safety concerns, including students showing up in neighborhoods to fight and administration ignoring gang activity in the school.
•School Resource Officer Deputy Green continuously targeting Antwan due to an unrelated incident and trying to have him charge and arrested until Dr.Rivers stepped in and conducted a full investigation and found he in fact did not initiate the fight.
Our Demands:
1. Immediate reinstatement of Antwans right to a fair education, including academic support for missed work.
2. A full review of Jinks Middle School’s handling of bullying incidents and accountability for staff who fail to protect students.
3. A transparent disciplinary process that ensures suspensions are based on factual evidence and not bias.
4. Clear action to combat bullying, gang activity, and online harassment among students.
5. Enforcement of fair and consistent disciplinary policies for all students.
6.Erasure of past disciplinary records due to circumstances.
7.Jinks Middle school full investigation and audit.
8.Allow students an opportunity to update past grades immediate opening of past assignments.
We believe every child deserves a safe and supportive learning environment. No student should be punished for defending themselves when the school fails to intervene. We demand immediate action to protect students and ensure fairness in school policies.
