Demand Fair Treatment and Pricing from Activision

The Issue

Having been a loyal player since the days of the Xbox 360, I fondly recall the experience of queuing up with fellow gamers for hours, eagerly awaiting the release of the latest Call of Duty installment. Back then, a full game would set you back between $40 and $60. Fast forward to today, and a vastly different picture emerges—Call of Duty now commands a $100 price tag, demanding additional payment for battle passes, Black Cell content, and more. The Black Cell, which once promised an all-inclusive experience, now fails to deliver on its value, often requiring additional expenditures that can reach up to $60 every other month.

This excessive commercialization isn't the only issue. There have been increasing reports of unfair bans and players being kicked out of lobbies and games due to technical errors. Many have been penalized unjustly, even when their gaming behavior was above board. Meanwhile, Activision has seemingly turned a blind eye to genuinely offensive usernames such as "ChildToucher" or references to tragic events. Instead, their focus has been disproportionately placed on banning behaviors, like virtual "teabagging," which, although controversial, harks back to gaming culture from the 90s. Ironically, this is happening alongside the sale of emotes and other content that arguably push the boundaries of decency much further.

Activision has consistently backtracked on promises regarding the content and experience players should expect. Such actions have not only diminished the integrity of gaming engagements but have also eroded trust. It's time for Activision to engage with its player base more sincerely and uphold a consistent, fair, and enjoyable gaming experience. We need accountability, transparency, and a commitment to delivering the experiences that players invest in, both financially and emotionally.

Join me in calling on Activision to reconsider their current practices. It's imperative that we bring to their attention the dissatisfaction and disillusionment permeating their community, demanding that they course-correct before the damage to both their reputation and player relationships becomes irreversible. By signing this petition, we show that as consumers, we won’t stand for unjust practices and will champion fair treatment and value in gaming. Let's make our voices heard and reclaim the joy of gaming that has been overshadowed by corporate greed.
