I love Australia and hate being shortchanged as a country. The idea of the lands we hold so dearly in our hands being exploited without the due reciprocity, while multinational giants like Santos, Chevron, BG (Shell), Puma, and Victoria Power rake in profits without paying their fair share, is simply unacceptable.

Our great nation possesses abundant natural resources, yet the financial benefits seem to vanish into the pockets of massive corporations and their shareholders, instead of siding with the Australian people. These resources, which are part of our land and legacy, are being squandered away almost for free, creating a gaping pit of lost opportunities for Australians.

The taxes these corporations evade could fundamentally transform our country. Imagine properly funded housing projects, enriched educational systems to bolster tomorrow's leaders, and a healthcare infrastructure that guarantees the wellbeing of every Australian. Rather than enduring a crippling deficit in vital public services, we should be harnessing our resources to solidify Australia's prosperity and equity.

Our government, which should serve its people, seems to be aiding these companies with lenient tax policies. This kind of collusion not only robs Australians of rightful revenue but tarnishes the trust between the citizens and their leaders.

In light of this, I propose a nationwide referendum addressing these critical issues. We must take a stand for justice and insist on back taxes being paid by these corporations. Furthermore, implementing a rule that bans politicians from working for corporations after passing favorable policies can prevent future conflicts of interest.

Australia must reclaim control over its resources and wealth to ensure a bright future for its citizens.
