I am a resident of uttar bor bil in karbi anglong , assam - 782481, a community that is plagued with rampant corruption and the overpowering influence of money in our local government's decision-making process. For years, I have watched in frustration as honest, capable, and deserving individuals are sidelined in favour of those with wealth and influence, who are chosen to hold critical positions such as Gaon Bura or Village Defence Personnel (VDP). Our voices, cries for fairness, and demands for justice have repeatedly gone unheard. 

This petition is personal to me because I have witnessed the suffering of my family and neighbours firsthand. Our roads remain in disrepair, essential services are neglected, and our voices are ignored. Instead of a fair and transparent system, our community is shackled by corruption that denies us the opportunity to live safer, more dignified lives.

We demand a change: that the selection of our leaders—whether Gaon Bura, VDP, or any other position—be based on merit and capability, determined through objective and fair examinations rather than underhand dealings. It is crucial that individuals in these positions of power are truly representative of our community’s genuine needs and welfare, instead of the interests of a privileged few.

We have waited too long for change, hoping that someday justice will not just be a dream. But without action, hope fades.
