The Issue
My family has been torn apart by the justice system. I faced allegations for hindering the apprehension of my son, something I did not do, and was hit three times. Now my son faces the same injustice. The Pennsylvania State Parole Board is setting him up for failure. When he goes for his parole hearing, they expect him to admit to the allegations in the police report, despite his negative DNA test.
My son was wrongfully implicated in a crime, and the negative DNA test is key evidence of his innocence. Yet, the parole board seems inclined to disregard this critical evidence and base their decisions solely on the police report. This isn’t just—it's downright unjust. We need a system that values truth and integrity, respects scientific evidence, and makes decisions that reflect these values.
All too often, individuals are forced to admit to crimes they did not commit just to satisfy the conditions set by parole boards—a practice that undermines the principles of justice. It's crucial that parole board members prioritize examining all evidence presented and not solely rely on police reports.
I urge the Pennsylvania State Parole Board to reassess its approach, taking into full account DNA evidence and other exculpatory evidence when determining parole outcomes. By doing so, they can ensure that justice is appropriately served and that innocent individuals like my son are not wrongfully punished.
It’s imperative that the parole board implements a fair, evidence-based review process. Let’s stand together to make sure that the truth isn't just another overlooked factor, but a decisive element in parole determinations.
Sign the petition to demand justice for my son and many others who face similar fate. Your signature can make a difference and push for a more just parole system in Pennsylvania.Because many young lives have been ruined and denied them of making a difference in the world going to the military raising their kids so on and so on, but what does the parole board care they get to go home every day and they automatically think everybody’s guilty by the police report which is so not true.
