I have personally witnessed the challenging conditions that Fulton County's Animal Control Division officers face every day. For years, I volunteered at the local animal shelter, observing firsthand the demanding and highly stressful environment these essential workers operate in. They often risk their lives dealing with aggressive animals, confronting cruel owners, people who run dog fighting rings or thieves who wouldn't hesitate to harm them while subjecting animals to severe neglect and cruelty.

Despite this, they remain an integral part of our community's health and safety system. Yet they are overlooked and under-compensated for their critical role. This is not only unfair but also detrimental to our county's ability to protect its citizens - both human and animal alike.

It is high time that Fulton County properly funds the Animal Control Division. The officers deserve better pay reflecting their vital service to our community along with improved benefits commensurate with their challenging roles. Additionally, upgraded facilities are needed so they can perform their duties more effectively.

The lack of proper funding has been a longstanding issue in Fulton County; it's time we address it head-on for the welfare of our community members as well as those who serve us tirelessly in ensuring public safety.
