Demand Equitable Treatment for Transgender and Non-Binary People in the Workplace
The Issue
Safety is the number one issue facing the transgender and non-binary workforce.
Transgender and non-binary communities are often underrepresented and overlooked in the workplace. This begins before applicants have had their first day on the job. Current data collection listed on job applications limits gender to only "male" and "female." This perpetuates traditional gender norms and reinforces normative ideas of gender. Thus, trans and non-binary applicants are already isolated before they have to submit their application.
It is crucial that workplace protections are put into place to promote diversity and inclusion, equitable hiring practices, access to gender-affirming healthcare, and the use of preferred pronouns.
The Cloud Dancers Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission to bring visibility to the transgender community. Our founder, Robina Asti, a WWII transgender veteran, created Cloud Dancers with a goal to improve workplace safety so trans people could have an equal opportunity to reach their professional goals. Learn more about Robina and our mission in the New York Times, NPR, ABC News, and People Magazine.
