As a concerned parent in our community, I am deeply troubled by the unfair treatment observed in our local police department. There is a significant disparity in how law enforcement action is managed between two boys in our neighborhood. We've observed that one boy, despite exhibiting harmful behavior, is unduly favored by the police, while another is repeatedly treated severely without just cause.

This is not about protecting one child over another; it’s about ensuring that every child in our neighborhood, and by extension our city, is treated equitably by law enforcement regardless of who they are or where they live. My fear, shared by many other parents, is that my own children will face the same biased policing as they grow up.

Studies indicate that children exposed to unequal policing gradually lose trust in law enforcement, which can create long-standing issues with authority (Source: American Psychological Association). We cannot afford for our youth to grow up fearing those who are meant to protect them.
