My beloved cat was tragically run over. The driver did not stop, leaving my family and me in deep grief with no justice for our loss. This incident is not isolated; many cats are victims of hit-and-run incidents every year, their lives treated as less significant than those of dogs. In many places around the world, including parts of the United States and Europe, it is legally required to report hitting a dog to the authorities but not a cat (Source: Animal Legal & Historical Center). This discrepancy in law devalues the lives of cats and adds to the pain of their grieving owners.

Cats are as much part of our families as dogs. They deserve equal protection under traffic laws. We demand that legislation be amended to require drivers involved in accidents with cats to stop and report these incidents just like they would if they had hit a dog.

This change will ensure that all pets are valued equally under law, providing some measure of justice for grieving pet owners like myself who have lost their feline friends in such tragic circumstances.
