In Vancouver, BC, a woman and her child are facing eviction from Atira Women's Resource Services after filing a claim of racial discrimination with the BC Human Rights Tribunal. The retaliation they have experienced since filing their claim is unacceptable. For 16 months, they have been denied support from the organization that should be their safe haven. This situation is not isolated; it is part of a larger issue where victims of discrimination often face further harm when seeking justice. According to Statistics Canada (2014), approximately 36% of people who reported discrimination also experienced some form of retaliation. This woman and her child are now facing homelessness as a result, which according to Homeless Hub (2016), disproportionately affects racialized individuals in Canada.

We call on Atira Women's Resource Services to stop this retaliatory eviction immediately and provide proper support for all women under its care regardless of race or ethnicity. We urge everyone in Vancouver, BC, Canada to stand against such practices by signing this petition today.
