My dog was injured and this is not the first fur baby  I’ve lost from having to take the same agonizing trip! Driving 20-30 min away to receive emergency care doesn’t help save a life in a timely manner. All veterinary clinics  should provide emergency services at any location. The vet should have an emergency number established for all patients and a team ready and able to be on standby in the sense that your pet needs immediate attention right then. I should not have to take my fur baby miles away when I take him/her locally to a vet in my area for routine treatment! Having access to a vet in my area could eliminate unnecessary travel and save time which could save a life! There are many obstacles that could occur while driving 20-30 minutes or more to seek medical attention for your fur baby. For example road blocks, delayed traffic, and the fact of not being able to fully comfort him/her while trying to drive. Perhaps they stop breathing and I’m still minutes away from receiving medical attention. It is necessary to have help available right then and there. It is necessary to have help right where you are! Traveling too far makes it difficult to sustain proper treatment needed in that very instant! Animal hospitals and emergency care needs to be at every veterinarian clinic! I lost my baby 2 days ago! Had I been able to get to the vet I take him to only 5 minutes away versus 30 I firmly believe he would still be alive! I’m devastated because I know in my heart it would have made all the difference! Now he’s gone and I can’t get him back! He was not just a fur baby he was family! His name was Snoopy!
