Demand Elected Officials who Advocate War to Serve on Front Line

Demand Elected Officials who Advocate War to Serve on Front Line
The Issue
Fueled by the profound fear of a dire future for my children and grandchildren growing up in a potentially nuclear wasteland, I have been motivated to start this petition. This fear, not baseless, stems from the actions of some political figures who prioritize their economic gain over the lives of our innocent children. It's not just my family's future at risk; it's the future of every citizen who counts on these leaders to make sound decisions for their well-being.
In recent years, there has been an increasing tendency among our elected officials to push for war with foreign nations. The gritty reality of war, however, is overshadowed by the economic and political advantages they anticipate. They are not the ones who pay the direct physical and emotional toll of war – civilians do, especially our brave soldiers and their families.
Thus, I propose a law be brought to the floor of Congress stating: "Any elected official that actively pushes for a war with a foreign nation must, if physically able, or have a family member represent them on the front line of said war for no less than six months."
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports an estimated 1.3 million active military personnel as of 2018. These men and women represent less than 0.5% of the U.S. population. Therefore, decisions pushing us closer to war should not be made lightly by politicians who are far removed from the battlefield. Such a law would increase the consideration and gravity with which war is approached.
Let's push for accountability from our elected representatives. Protect the future of our children from reckless decisions influenced by greed and personal gain. Sign this petition to demand our representatives in Congress pass such a law. Let's ensure those who decide on war place their own skin in the game. Don't let the future of our children be collateral in others' pursuit of financial or political gain.
