The Issue

Growing up in a household of immigrants, I have witnessed first-hand the struggles and hurdles they face within the legal system. My parents, like many others in Lynnwood, WA, came to this country with dreams of a better future for their family. Yet, the harsh reality of stringent immigration enforcement practices, without adequate due process protections, is a constant reminder of the fragility of these dreams.

Our immigration system is in dire need of reform. Current practices often lack transparency and oversight, breeding environments where inhumane and unconstitutional activities can take place unchecked. The agency charged with immigration enforcement, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has been reported for numerous instances of misconduct and violations of human rights. These actions are not only a betrayal of the values this nation was built upon but also a direct threat to the safety and dignity of our immigrant communities.

In Lynnwood, WA, we demand better. It is time for change. We call on our elected officials to introduce and support legislation that demands due process protections for all immigrants. These laws must ensure that everyone, regardless of their status, has a fair chance to be heard and treated justly in the eyes of the law.

Additionally, there must be increased oversight and transparency within ICE to hold the agency accountable for its actions. We need comprehensive reviews of their procedures and the power to challenge any acts that infringe upon the rights of individuals. This is an issue that concerns not just immigrants, but every person who believes in justice and equality.

Now is the moment to speak out against the inhumane and unconstitutional practices in immigration enforcement. Our parents, friends, and neighbors deserve to live without fear. By supporting these measures, we can build a community that respects and protects its members, regardless of their origin.

Join us in this fight for equitable treatment and human rights for all immigrants in Lynnwood. Lend your voice to demand due process, transparency, and oversight. Sign this petition and become part of the change that our community needs.
