**Petition to Urge Dr. Ashebir Woldegiorgis to Resign as President of the Ethiopian Olympic Committee**

Dr. Ashebir Woldegiorgis’s leadership of the Ethiopian Olympic Committee has come under intense scrutiny due to several concerning actions that have negatively impacted Ethiopian athletics. Notably, during the Paris Olympics, it was reported that official Olympic badges were distributed to individuals with no legitimate connection to the events, including family members and associates. This practice raised significant concerns about the misuse of resources and sidelined those who were truly deserving of being part of the official Olympic delegation.

Furthermore, there have been accusations of a lack of transparency and proper financial oversight within the committee. Questions have been raised about the management of funds provided by the government and other organizations for Olympic events, with allegations that these resources have not been adequately audited or accounted for. 

Dr. Woldegiorgis has also faced criticism for prioritizing participation over excellence, leading to disappointing performances by Ethiopian athletes on the global stage. His leadership approach has been seen as misaligned with the Olympic ideals of striving for competitive greatness.

We, the undersigned, believe that Ethiopia deserves a leader who will uphold the integrity of the Olympic Committee, ensure transparency in financial matters, and fully support our athletes in their pursuit of excellence. We call on Dr. Ashebir Woldegiorgis to step down as President of the Ethiopian Olympic Committee and for new leadership that reflects the values and aspirations of the Ethiopian sports community.
