I am a resident of Welland, Ontario, and like many others in my community, I am dealing with significant challenges that range from long hospital wait times, rising costs of living, job losses, to delays in essential infrastructure like public transit. These are not just statistics; they are real problems that affect my daily life and the lives of many Ontarians.

Unfortunately, while we are grappling with these vital issues, our Premier, Doug Ford, has chosen to prioritize an extended 102-day legislative break. It is a staggering fact that this is one of the longest breaks in Ontario’s recent history, and it comes at a time when leadership and decisive action are most needed.

Long hospital wait times have become a severe problem in Welland, with some residents waiting hours for critical care. The healthcare system is strained, and immediate and effective policy interventions are necessary to ensure timely access to medical services for everyone. Yet, it seems that addressing these issues isn't a priority during this break.

Moreover, the cost of living has been rising unpredictably. Food prices are skyrocketing, and housing affordability is becoming a thing of the past. In Welland, residents feel the pinch every day, finding it harder to make ends meet. This economic strain needs urgent government attention and remedial measures which are not being addressed effectively.

Public transit, an essential part of our infrastructure, continues to experience delays and underfunding, causing inconvenience to many who rely on it for daily commute. This is a direct disservice to livelihoods, affecting workers, students, and families.

The decision to take a 102-day legislative break demonstrates a severe disconnect from the pressing needs of Ontarians. We deserve leadership that is actively working to solve our problems, not drifting away from legislative responsibilities.

By failing to prioritize urgent provincial issues, Premier Ford is making it clear that he is not the leader we need at this critical juncture. I am calling on everyone, especially those affected in similar ways, to join me in demanding Premier Doug Ford's immediate resignation.
