On March 17 2026 two armed men walked up to a family home, knocked on the door, and shot Tristan Abernathy four times. This was not a random fight or a spontaneous "heat of passion" incident. It was a calculated, targeted attack at a private residence.
Despite the calculated nature of this crime, the charges are currently being handled as manslaughter. Manslaughter carries a maximum of 40 years, whereas this targeted home shooting fits the legal definitions of First- or Second-Degree Murder—which carry mandatory life sentences.
We, the undersigned residents and community members, demand that the District Attorney's office protect our community, reject a lenient manslaughter designation, and present First-Degree Murder charges to the Grand Jury.
