In Britain Conversion Therapy for homosexuality is legal.

My petition has been set up to send a message to the UK government to outlaw this practice and implement a ban set out in the government's LGBT Action Plan; the outlawing of this practice for children would send a positive message to ALL children that they don't need to change who they are; they can be their authentic selves unapologetically

It's a worrying statistic that 10% of healthcare staff in Britain have witnessed colleagues expressing the idea that homosexuality can be 'cured,' (Stonewall & YouGov - Unhealthy Attitudes) but there is research to support the idea that laws change opinions (When Laws Change Minds) and I truly believe that banning Conversion Therapy for minors could not only lead to the condemning of conversion therapy in people's minds but it could lead to even further acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community in Britain

I'm an 18 year old gay man and I've been through difficult times with my identity where I have wanted to change a piece of myself to fit society. It was a scary time for me and it had a massive impact on my mental health, but with this law in place I truly believe attitudes can change
