Demand Congress Pass the Election Day Act and Make Voting Day a Federal Holiday
The Issue
As an American, I know firsthand the struggle of balancing work responsibilities with fulfilling the crucial duty of voting. For too many people, Election Day poses a significant barrier to participation due to the pressures of work, long commutes, or inflexible schedules.
Voting is a cornerstone of democratic engagement.
Yet countless eligible voters do not make it to the polling stations on Election Day. Consider the last midterm election: according to the U.S. Census Bureau, about 33% of registered voters did not vote due to being too busy or experiencing conflicting schedules.
This is a staggering.
Let's solve this by making Election Day a Federal Holiday.
By signing this petition, you join me in urging our lawmakers to take concrete steps towards a more inclusive democracy. Let's champion the fact that voting is a right.
