Demand Compensation from Capital One

Demand Compensation from Capital One
The Issue
Update on January 18, 2025
Capital One announced progress in resolving the third-party vendor issue that caused a massive disruption beginning January 15, 2025. While the company states that full account functionality has been restored for most customers, the problem persists for some. Capital One offers vague assurances of full resolution “as soon as possible.” Customers are encouraged to review their accounts online, but this update fails to adequately address the severity of the situation.
As a dedicated Capital One customer, I am deeply frustrated and disappointed by the company’s handling of this issue. Since January 15, 2025, a deposit processing failure has left me—and countless others—without timely access to our funds. This disruption has forced customers to rely on secondary accounts, jeopardized essential expenses such as groceries, and delayed critical bill payments.
Capital One failed to provide prompt notification or disclose crucial details about the issue, including the identity of the third-party provider responsible. The lack of transparency and timely communication exacerbated the financial and emotional burden placed on its customers. Furthermore, the company has not offered compensation for the severe inconvenience and hardship caused by this failure.
We, the undersigned customers, demand immediate action and accountability. Our demands include:
1. Full transparency: Publicly disclose the identity of the third-party provider involved and provide a detailed explanation of the failure.
2. Fair compensation: Offer appropriate compensation for the financial and emotional stress caused to customers.
3. Improved communication: Implement stronger communication protocols to ensure customers are informed promptly during future disruptions.
Trust in financial institutions is earned through accountability and support, especially during critical disruptions like this. Capital One has failed to uphold this trust.
If Capital One does not take swift action to address these demands, this petition could serve as the foundation for a class action lawsuit to hold the company accountable for the harm inflicted upon its customers.
