900 Helmcken Update: Turns out, we're not alone

We commissioned an independent, province-wide Ipsos poll to ask British Columbians what they actually think about drug consumption sites and the government's handling of the addiction crisis. 

The results are striking, and they confirm something we've felt all along: this was never just our neighbourhood. 

A few of the numbers:

Only 26% think drug consumption sites are a good use of taxpayer money.
73% would rather that money go to treatment and recovery.
58% say the sites have made the addiction crisis worse. Just 7% say better.
Only 19% think the government is doing a good job on the crisis.

This is the strongest proof yet that we were never the outliers. We're the majority. Not a small group resisting change, but a province asking for something better.

And people are paying attention. This week the poll made headlines, with coverage in Global BC (starts at 19:25 mark), Daily Hive, and 604 Now putting our community's fight in front of British Columbians who'd never heard of 900 Helmcken. The story is no longer ours alone to tell.
