The Issue

I am writing this petition with a heavy heart and deep concern about the conditions at North Spring Behavioral Healthcare, located in Leesburg, Virginia. This facility, dedicated to treating vulnerable children, has repeatedly shown blatant institutional neglect and abuse. Reports of verbal and physical abuse, along with serious allegations of sexual assault, paint a picture of an environment that is utterly unsafe for the children it purports to help.

The horror doesn't stop there. Young, innocent children have been traumatized not just by mistreatment but by being told there is a graveyard they can be sent to if they misbehave—a grotesque scare tactic that has no place in a facility that is supposed to nurture and heal. This is not what care looks like. The safety and well-being of our children must come first, and we must act.

In light of these appalling revelations, I call upon the appropriate regulatory bodies and local government to take immediate action. The establishment must be investigated thoroughly, and if found guilty of these charges, closed down permanently. The staff involved in any wrongdoing must face justice, and steps must be taken to ensure that the children affected receive the care and support they need to overcome this trauma. Moreover, we need a transparent, independent review of the practices and conditions in similar facilities across the state to prevent further tragedies.

We cannot stand idly by while children suffer in a place meant for healing. By adding your voice to this petition, you are demanding accountability and insisting on change. It is time to protect our children from such environments and ensure that no more little ones are subjected to such horrors.

Please join me in this crucial fight. Sign this petition and help us make a stand for the safety and dignity of these children.
