Demand City Investigation and Action Against Puppygram's Breach of Ordinance

Demand City Investigation and Action Against Puppygram's Breach of Ordinance
The Issue
As a deeply concerned citizen, this issue is both personal and urgent to me. Puppy mills are not just unethical; they are a significant health and safety hazard for the animals involved. In this context, we call attention to Puppygram located at 28297 Woodward Avenue, which appears to be operating in violation of a recent ordinance.
In 2023, a new ordinance was passed, effectively prohibiting new puppy mills from opening within our city boundaries. As a result, Puppygram, a suspected illegal puppy mill, would not be able to operate if they signed a new lease. The city confirmed this but failed to commit to any further investigation or enforcement.
This lack of follow-through represents a clear disregard for the ordinance’s purpose - the protection and well-being of vulnerable animals. It undermines the voices of us as citizens who fought for and support these laws.
Puppy mills, like Puppygram, are known for their inhumane conditions and the ongoing suffering of animals. According to the Humane Society of the United States, dogs in puppy mills often live in "dirty, unhealthy conditions," leading to severe health problems and even premature death. Let's not forget the possibility of diseases passed between these animals, which then can pass to animals at the homes of any new owner who purchases said animals from this establishment.
Therefore, we demand that the city fully investigate Puppygram's business operations, not only for this specific violation but also for all potential breaches of related animal welfare laws. Further, if found in violation, the city must take swift and decisive action to shut down Puppygram, thereby signaling their commitment to uphold the laws and protect the welfare of animals in our community.
This is our stand. This is our demand. Sign this petition to let our city know that actions speak louder than words, and it is time for them to fulfill their responsibilities.
