Broward County, Florida must immediately terminate their current animal shelter director, Emily Wood. Ms Wood is paid over $150,000 tax payer dollars per year to SAVE more pets, to HELP residents and pets in need, and to WORK WITH the community! Since she began as director in January 2021 she has accomplished none of these things. Her total and complete mismanagement of OUR shelter has led to many innocent pets suffering and being needlessly killed for reasons like "not kenneling well" or "compromised quality of life". Under her "leadership", she has killed over 1,220 innocent cats and dogs, an average of 70 animals per month, and the killing continues daily. She continually refuses to help residents who find strays and desperately need help and also has also left pets in cruel and inhumane situations. Ms Wood has made dishonest statements in the press and in meetings, and she has created a very unwelcoming work environment for the shelter staff.  She is currently under investigation by the County for allegedly referring to one of her management staff as a "Bull Dyke".  Ms. Wood's style of leadership is completely unacceptable and unprofessional, and this alone shows just cause to terminate her immediately! 

With OUR tax dollars we must DEMAND a higher standard from our leaderhip!  If Ms. Wood remains as director we can expect the continued mismanagement of our animal shelter and the continued suffering of our cats and dogs. Broward's residents and its pets DESERVE BETTER.
