Demand change in Lake County Ohio Dog Shelter leadership
The Issue
Recently, I was horrified to learn that the HVAC system at the Lake County Ohio Dog Shelter reached extreme temperatures of over 94 degrees Fahrenheit. The dogs were locked in kennels without any relief, a situation that seems nothing short of inhumane. As an ardent animal lover, this incident has deeply disturbed me. I care about these dogs and firmly believe they deserve leaders who are not only present but are also driven by compassion and dedication. This unacceptable situation is not a standalone event; the current Lake County Ohio Dog Warden has been absent since April, and the deputy dog wardens have, unfortunately, put the dogs at risk multiple times. This revelation, although distressing, was only brought to light recently, having been shrouded in silence for far too long.
It's time for change. While the current warden is a great person with a tremendous amount of knowledge, we need someone more proactive in the kennels and in the community. We advocate for Ryan Valenjevick, a former employee who has consistently demonstrated exceptional care and advocacy for the dogs at the shelter, to become the next Lake County Ohio Dog Warden. Ryan has always been a vocal champion for the voiceless, a hands-on leader, and someone who truly has the best interests of both the dogs and residents of Lake County at heart.
Ryan's track record speaks volumes of his commitment; during his tenure, he was an active and present figure at the shelter, always prioritizing the welfare of the animals. His dedication serves as a beacon of hope that we desperately need for the future of the Lake County Ohio Dog Shelter. His return would signify a new chapter marked by integrity and accountability.
The dogs of Lake County deserve better, and with your support, we can ensure they receive it. Let us take this opportunity to provide them with a voice and a true advocate in Ryan Valenjevick. Sign this petition and help usher in a leadership that puts the welfare of the dogs and the community first.
