What does it take to get the Board of Directors to take responsibility?
So far the board has received at least five letters detailing the abuse at the hands of Jon Connolly. Numerous faculty, staff and students spoke up at the last board meeting. Staff spoke up at the County Commissioners meeting and still Jon Connolly enjoys the privileges of serving as the president of Sussex County Community college with absolutely no repercussions for his behavior. Attached is the email sent to employees yesterday regarding the lackluster “investigation”. If this were any other employee there would be a prompt investigation, but apparently Jon Connolly is above the law. Let’s be clear: this about Jon Connolly’s abuse of power, not about the institutional climate.
It’s time to take action. Here are a few things you can do:
- Email the Board of Directors to demand that they investigate Jon Connolly’s actions and multiple policy violations. kgewecke@sussex.edu; gcarricl@sussex.ed; csmith@sussex.edu; pcrowley@sussex.edu; jhoffmann@sussex.edu; jssntillo@sussex.edu; lfrank@sussex.edu; esilverthorne@sussex.edu; hyardley@sussex.edu
- Attend the next Board of Directors meeting: Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 5:00 pm. Speak up!
- Attend the County Commissioners meeting: Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 6:00 pm. Speak up!
it’s time for action and to get back to the work at hand — educating students! Jon Connolly’s hostile work environment is a distraction from the good work of dedicated faculty and staff.
