It was confirming at the March 26, 2024 Board of Directors meeting that Connolly had a gun in his office which he has admittedly denied. The confirmation came by way of an audio recording in which Connolly admitted the crime. Unbelievable!

As a deeply concerned member of the Sussex County Community College family, I have witnessed the deterioration of our institution over the past several years. The president, Jon Connolly, has been at the center of multiple investigations and is alleged to have misused taxpayer funds that should be allocated towards employees and students. Note, the college has been without a CFO for over two years. Jon Connolly has fostered an environment that stifles growth, inhibits success, and disrespects free speech.

• Staff and faculty are overworked.
• Connolly has reduced the staff to such a small size that it is nearly impossible to be successful.
• Staff and faculty have increased student enrollment and go above and beyond for students, but it means nothing to him.
• Adjunct faculty are treated as if they are disposable. 
• Employees are subject to blackmail and spying from Connolly and his inner circle.
• Discrimination is ignored.
• Most employees fear for their jobs and recently several have been forced out. 
  

Students’ right to free speech is being abused by Connolly — forcing staff to remove flyers and attempting to silence a recent student walkout. 

Aren’t colleges free speech zones??

Sussex County taxpayers deserve transparency about where their money is going or in this case… where it’s not going.  Students deserve an environment conducive to learning and growth. Faculty members need a workplace where they are respected and adequately compensated for their hard work.

The situation at Sussex Community College is not just about one person; it's about preserving the integrity of our educational institution for current students and future generations. We must ensure that student success remains front-and-center in all decisions made by those in power.

We call on local government officials to conduct a thorough neutral third-party investigation into these allegations against President Connolly. STOP ALLOWING CONNOLLY TO DICTATE THE DECISIONS OF THE COLLEGE’S BOARD OF TRUSTEES. We demand his immediate removal from office as well as reforms within Sussex Community College to restore fairness, respect for free speech, support for staff & faculty members, along with prioritizing student success above all else.
