The Earth has crossed its first major climate tipping point — and the U.S. must act now.

A landmark report from 160 global scientists confirms that coral reefs are collapsing worldwide, making them the first environmental system on Earth to reach irreversible climate breakdown. And if temperatures continue rising, other systems — like the Amazon rainforest, polar ice sheets, and vital ocean currents — could soon follow.

We are living in a new climate reality — one where the damage is not theoretical, but unfolding in real time.

These tipping points threaten:

Food security for millions
Entire coastal communities
Trillions in global economic losses
And the health of ecosystems we all depend on
 

And yet, U.S. emissions targets, fossil fuel subsidies, and permitting policies remain dangerously out of sync with the urgency of this moment.

We, the undersigned, are calling on the White House, the U.S. Congress, and federal agencies to:

• Rapidly phase out fossil fuel subsidies and new drilling projects
• Pass a federal Climate Emergency declaration to unlock broad executive powers
• Massively scale up clean energy infrastructure and transmission lines
• Expand federal investment in climate resilience, ocean protection, and wildfire mitigation
• Commit to bold 2030 climate goals ahead of COP30 in Brazil this year
   

We already know the science. Now we need the political courage to respond to it.

The United States cannot claim to lead the world while quietly expanding oil and gas drilling. If we act boldly, we can still limit further tipping points, protect lives, and lead a global transition to a safer future.

This is not just about the environment — it’s about survival, justice, and opportunity. The next generation will either inherit a planet defined by irreversible loss, or by our determination to change course in time.
