It is crucial that all health providers be as accessible as possible to the people they serve. Today, a major barrier to the accessibility is present in Wisconsin, where Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) is withdrawing from their contract with UW Health/ Unity Point. Due to this situation, a significant number of insured members will be unable to get treatments at UW Health facilities without enduring unreasonable out of network costs. 

UW Health is renowned for its quality services and serves more than 600,000 patients annually. It's a major pillar of healthcare in the state of Wisconsin, and it's essential that major insurers like BCBS provide their customers access to these high-quality services. The lack of inclusion of BCBS in the UW Health network inhibits optimal care for all of its insured members who need it and forces many of them to either pay higher prices or seek other healthcare solutions.

Therefore, we call on BCBS to renegotiate a contract with UW Health that will include all of its facilities within their network. It is in the best interest of all insured members in Wisconsin and the neighboring areas. This change means better access to quality healthcare and a healthier Wisconsin.
