Demand Better Service and Transparency from GEUS for Greenville Residents and Businesses

The residents and businesses of Greenville, Texas, are directly impacted by the current state of GEUS’s services, particularly regarding internet, water, and electricity. Many individuals and families rely on stable internet for remote work, education, and day-to-day life. Businesses depend on consistent connectivity to maintain productivity and customer service. Unfortunately, frequent outages and increased rates have raised concerns among customers. While there are other internet providers in the area, GEUS remains the dominant provider of water, electricity, and internet services, which means that the community is at the mercy of their service standards and pricing policies.

 


What is at stake?

If these issues are not addressed, the residents of Greenville will continue to face unreliable service, rising prices, and a lack of transparency from GEUS. Unexplained increases in internet and water prices, along with unreliable service, can lead to financial strain and frustration among customers. Furthermore, if GEUS does not provide clarity on its tax records or use of funds, the community’s trust in the organization will continue to erode. As a nonprofit entity, GEUS must act with transparency and in the best interests of the residents they serve.

Now is the time to take action. GEUS customers are already dealing with increased rates and unreliable service. If these concerns aren’t addressed soon, trust in GEUS will continue to deteriorate, and many residents and businesses may feel forced to seek alternatives, despite the lack of competition for water and electricity. By signing this petition, we are sending a clear message to GEUS that we demand better service, better transparency, and reasonable rates. Together, we can ensure that GEUS listens to its customers and serves the community fairly and responsibly.

 


Our Demands:

1. Ensure GEUS’s Tax Records are Accessible on the IRS Website

As a nonprofit organization, GEUS’s tax records should be publicly available for transparency. While attempting to find this information on the IRS website, I was unable to locate GEUS’s records. We ask that GEUS ensures these records are properly filed and easy to locate for the public.

2. Lower Internet Prices

GEUS has increased its internet rates to $72.47, which is a significant rise from the previous rate. We demand a return to the previous pricing or a clear explanation of why these increases were necessary, including what the additional funds are being used for and how they benefit customers.

3. Reconsider Water Price Increase or Provide Transparency

The water prices were increased by over 50% in October 2024. We demand that GEUS either lower these prices back to the previous rate or provide a quarterly update on how these additional costs are being allocated and what improvements or services the increase is funding.

 


By signing this petition, we urge GEUS to take immediate action to address these concerns and ensure that customers are receiving reliable service at fair prices.
