For decades, Manila Zoo has been a place where families gather, children learn about wildlife, and animals are displayed for public education. However, behind the scenes, many of the animals live in cramped, outdated enclosures that fail to meet modern ethical standards for animal welfare.

Recent reports and visitor observations have raised concerns about the well-being of animals, inadequate medical care, and the overall condition of the zoo. While efforts have been made to renovate the facility, there is still much work to be done to ensure these animals are given the care, space, and environment they deserve.

We, the concerned citizens of the Philippines, call on the Manila City Government and relevant authorities to:
✅ Upgrade enclosures to provide animals with larger, more naturalistic habitats
✅ Improve veterinary care and mental stimulation for all animals
✅ Implement stronger animal welfare policies aligned with global standards
✅ Increase transparency by allowing regular public reports on animal health and living conditions

Manila Zoo should be a place of learning and conservation, not a facility that compromises the welfare of its inhabitants. We demand real, lasting improvements now!
