Demand Arizona Lawmakers Strengthen Gun Safety After the Venture-N Shooting
The Issue
Hello friends! I’ve come to you in dyer need of your community and support.
August 31, 2026, two people — Vincent Anthony Siqueiros, 42, and Cameron Davis Capara, 33 — were fatally shot outside Venture-N, a longtime LGBTQ+ bar in Tucson. Police later confirmed that the attack was motivated by hatred toward the LGBTQ+ community. Investigators said the suspect, Ousman Ceesay, 44, acted alone and that there was no known ongoing threat to the community.
This tragedy is a reminder that LGBTQ+ Arizonans deserve to feel safe in the places where they gather, socialize, and build community. We should not pretend that any single gun law would necessarily have prevented this specific attack — but we can demand that Arizona lawmakers examine the gaps in our firearm laws and take evidence-based steps to reduce the risk of future gun violence.
We are calling on President Warren Petersen, Speaker Steve Montenegro, and Governor Katie Hobbs to make gun-safety legislation a priority in Arizona. We ask them to support evidence-based firearm-safety measures, hear directly from communities affected by gun violence and hate crimes, and work toward legislation that can reduce the risk of firearms being used to harm people.
I’ve seen this first hand affect people and the community during the PULS shooting in Orlando, Florida. It’s attack on the community is an attack an all of us. And I am so tired of us being a target especially on the end of a gun. It’s time to continue the conversation on how important this issue is.
Sign this petition and demand action before Arizona lawmakers return for the 2027 legislative session. We cannot undo what happened at Venture-N. We can demand that Arizona take preventing future violence seriously.
Paid partnership. Francis Dominic is a Change Ambassador who receives compensation in connection with this petition.
