Since my last update, our community has grown to over 360 signatures. While we are past the initial 28-day post-sentencing statutory period, an appeal can still be lodged past this deadline under certain circumstances. Because this issue remains deeply important to victim-survivors and our broader community, we are keeping this petition live for a few more weeks while the possibility of a DPP appeal remains open.

At minimum: Overturn the decision to deny an AVO

Ultimately: Ensure the convicted offender's sentence is reviewed to require custodial community service rather than non-custodial service—especially in light of recent details revealing a prior history of violent offenses and an ongoing risk to the community.

If every one of us shares this petition just ONE time with friends, family, or on social media, we can easily cross our target of 1,000 signatures.

Too often, lenient sentencing in cases of sexual violence leads to public outcry without a channel for action. Sharing this petition is a direct, meaningful way to transform that frustration into momentum and show decision-makers that our community demands real accountability.
