A no bill dies not prove or disprove guilt
JUSTICE FOR SAMSON ANIMAL RESCUE
STATEMENT REGARDING DOGTOWN RANCH
On September 17, 2026, the Milam County Sheriff’s Office announced that a Milam County Grand Jury returned a “no bill” in the criminal animal-cruelty investigation involving Dogtown Ranch and Sanctuary.
Justice for Samson Animal Rescue respects the grand jury process and acknowledges this decision.
It is equally important that the public understand what this decision means.
A no-bill means the Grand Jury determined that the evidence presented did not establish probable cause to proceed with criminal charges. It should not be described as a determination that every photograph, video, witness statement, allegation, or concern raised regarding Dogtown Ranch was false.
In fact, the Sheriff’s Office specifically stated that it is not suggesting that all circulating material is inaccurate or fabricated.
The Sheriff’s Office has also invited individuals possessing specific, verifiable evidence to continue submitting it, even after closure of the criminal case.
That matters.
Justice for Samson has never asked the public to determine guilt through Facebook, rumors, anger, or personal disputes.
We have asked for facts.
We have asked for original photographs and videos to be examined.
We have asked for veterinary documentation to be reviewed.
We have asked for firsthand witnesses to be heard.
We have asked for transparency concerning animal care, deaths, corrective measures, and other documented concerns.
And we will continue asking for those things.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that 11 deputies conducted at least 36 unannounced inspections beginning August 10, collected more than 360 photographs and hours of video, and reviewed veterinary and rabies records. The Sheriff's Office also reports that the SPCA of Texas and a licensed veterinarian previously recommended improvements that Dogtown agreed to implement.
Those facts should be acknowledged.
So should another fact: the Sheriff's Office says monitoring of Dogtown Ranch will continue and that credible new evidence will be reviewed.
Additionally, the recreational vehicle fire at the property remains a separate matter under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
Anyone possessing ORIGINAL photographs, videos, veterinary documentation, firsthand witness information, or other evidence should preserve it.
Do not alter it.
Do not crop the original.
Do not delete metadata.
Document when and where it was obtained and who obtained it.
Preserve original messages or communications associated with it.
Submit credible, verifiable evidence through appropriate official channels.
This is not the time for threats, harassment, retaliation, or personal attacks against anyone involved.
It is the time for documentation.
Justice for Samson Animal Rescue will continue to advocate for transparency, accountability, appropriate animal care, and evidence-based investigation.
If the animals are safe and receiving appropriate care, we want that documented.
If concerns are disproven, we want that documented.
If new evidence establishes that an animal needs protection, we want that evidence properly investigated.
Follow the evidence wherever it leads.
This was never supposed to be about winning an argument on social media.
It is about the animals.
