UPDATE: Good Law Project joins calls for a public inquiry
An important development for everyone following our Justice for Jason Arday petition.
The Good Law Project has published its own public letter calling for an immediate public inquiry into the treatment of Jason Arday and the conduct of the press. The letter is directed to the UK Prime Minister and Culture Secretary and argues that the circumstances surrounding Jason’s treatment raise serious questions about press harassment, racism, safeguarding and the effectiveness of press self-regulation. (Good Law Project)
The letter has attracted a substantial group of named supporters, including MPs, peers, academics, lawyers, campaigners and cultural figures. (Good Law Project)
This is significant support for the central proposition of our campaign: Jason’s case deserves proper independent examination rather than being left to competing headlines and unresolved allegations.
Our petition will continue to add something especially important to that discussion: the primary documentary evidence — Jason’s thesis, Paula Zwozdiak-Myers’ thesis, Jason’s actual citations and acknowledgments, side-by-side analysis, and the distinction between similarity and a proven finding of plagiarism.
