Judge Ciaccio is allowing abuse on a disabled child  I can’t live like this being kept away from him. I love my son more than life. I am not even allowed to see a picture of my child or have an update on his liver cirrhosis that was left undiagnosed for a year. A vulnerable adult can not advocate for himself and it is the responsibility of the surrogate court judge to make sure the vulnerable adult is protected. 

 This is a story of a mother's love, a son's resilience, and a broken system that has failed them. Laurie, a dedicated mother, has been forcefully separated from her terminally ill child, due to a ruling from Judge Ciaccio of the Monroe County Court. This inhumane situation has persisted for four heartbreaking years. Laurie raised child X single-handedly for 16 years, but amid the COVID-19 crisis, child X was placed with his keeper  as a safety strategy, leading to an indefinite and painful separation. 

This is more than just Laurie and child x  story; it is an alarming indicator of how our judicial system is capable of failing vulnerable individuals and their families, especially those with disabilities. Currently, the system places no restraint on judges - this has led to the long separation of a sick child from his loving mother, ignoring Laurie's rights and child x need for his mother in his trying times.

Yet Laurie, in addition to being denied her right to see child x , is threatened with arrest if she seeks public support through social media. This is not justice; it is the crushing of a mother's voice that calls out for her child. 

We implore you to join us as we demand the immediate recusal of Judge Ciaccio. This is the first and necessary step towards bringing about systemic reform in our judicial system to protect the rights of families, particularly cases involving individuals with disabilities, and to ensure no other family endures this kind of torment. Judge Ciaccio has allowed the abuse of a disability and fined Laurie for advocating for her ADA rights! Another violation of the ADA.
