Demand an Immediate Ban on E-Scooters in Greater London for Public Safety

The Issue

It is with a heavy heart that I put down my experiences and the experiences of countless other individuals who have become accidental victims of the increasing prevalence of e-scooters in Greater London. In recent years, e-scooters, which roam our streets and invade our pavements, have led to a significant rise in accidents. Cases of serious injuries, and worse still, fatalities have occurred due to collisions with both riders and innocent pedestrians. This situation is intolerable, and action must be taken now.

We urge the Mayor of London, members of the Greater London Authority, and local councils to recognize the legitimate safety hazards posed by these vehicles. It's essential to remember that individuals with disabilities, who often rely heavily on pedestrian pavements, are especially at risk to such threats, leaving them feeling unsafe in their own city.

Furthermore, any motor vehicle including e-scooters and e-bikes – vehicles not powered entirely by human power, should be regulated thoroughly by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency rules, pertaining to road tax, visibility, adherence to traffic rules, speed limitations, and obedience to traffic signals.

Enforcing these regulations and initiating a comprehensive ban on e-scooters on all pavements and public areas in Greater London is a crucial step towards ensuring the safety of our residents. We implore you to act with urgency and decisiveness to preserve the wellbeing of your constituents. Please sign this petition to express your support for this necessary measure.
