Demand an End to Child Trafficking and Injustice by the Department of Human Resources
The Issue
I was a foster child, marked by a system that left me scarred. Our children are our future, yet some of them are suffering under the watchful eyes of Ozark's Department of Human Resources. Many loving families, just like ours, have had to endure the premature separation of their children from their home. This system, which is ideally designed to protect, instead seems more interested in profiting from forceful adoptions and misleading proceedings in court. Disabled children are being held in facilities, facing detrimental treatment when they could be in the arms of a caring family fighting for them. All of this, is happening right under our noses, all in the name of profit.
Disconcertingly, this issue goes beyond Ozark, with the National Foster Youth Institute reporting that over 400,000 children in the United States are in foster care, many of whom are separated from their families without proper cause (source: National Foster Youth Institute). This situation is causing irreversible adverse effects not only to the families but to the children impacted. The emotional trauma alone can lead to severe consequences for the children in their future lives.
It is time for us to say no to this exploitation. It is time to fight for our children, for our families, and for the future of our community. We urge our local and state officials to take action against these unethical practices by the Department of Human Resources, to reform our systems so that they actually protect our children, not harm them.
We call upon all members of our community in Ozark, Alabama to unite under this cause. Demand transparency, justice, reform, and the right to raise a family in peace. It is in our hands to protect the future of our nation, our children. Please sign this petition to stop these injustices and help bring families back together.
