I am an animal advocate and I deeply cherish children. The nightmare I witness every day on various social media platforms is unacceptable. These platforms are being exploited as outlets for showcasing appalling acts of animal and child abuse. It's unimaginable the hurt one feels when confronted with such content, and it's infinitely worse knowing that even children are exposed to this.

The nature of these abuses varies, ranging from physical to psychological, and sadly, the reports of such incidents are on the rise. According to a study conducted by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, there was a 12% increase in online child abuse cases reported in just one year (NSPCC, 2019). Meanwhile, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) reported thousands of animal abuse cases each year, many of them shared and promoted on social media platforms (ASPCA, 2020).

This disturbing trend should not be the reality. Social media platforms ought to be responsible and must implement stricter measures to monitor, report, and penalize those involved in such horrendous acts. It is not just about holding the abusers responsible, but also those platforms which provide them the space to conduct and showcase these ghastly acts.

Let's make our digital world safe and stimulative for all its members, human and animal alike. We demand justice for the victims of abuse and stricter regulations on content shared via social media platforms. We cannot stand by while our loved ones suffer in silence. Public awareness needs to be raised and immediate action is needed. The time to make a difference is now. Sign this petition to take a stand against animal and child abuse on social media platforms. I am counting on our lawmakers to put laws in place to make that change and to hold social media platforms liable for allowing such neglect and abuse. It sends the message that although this may be acceptable in other countries, it is not acceptable in ours.  I am counting on the people to be the voice for the voiceless. It is repulsive to see animals abused to death and children being filmed as inappropriate neglect is occurimg. This abuse should not be displayed on platforms in the United States and the platforms should be held liable for allowing such cruelty. Often when the violence, abuse and neglect is reported a generic response is sent out that it does not go against community standards. We are the community and it does go against moral and legal standards. Please be their voice and help make the change happen for our future generations. What message does it send to our children if obscene videos allowing animal abuse and child neglect is acceptable??? Please join me in saying this is only not acceptable but illegal in this country and we do not want to see it nor do we want our future generations to see it.
