I am a former union plasterer from Albuquerque, NM. When my employer, Les File, shut down and the union was no longer able to provide work, I started over in another career. However, I found that my hard-earned retirement fund is locked away due to current policies. This is why I urge the trustees to alter the plan and allow direct rollovers out of the retirement fund for plasterers like me who are no longer working under the union. 

Currently, there are many workers across various industries who face similar challenges when transitioning between careers or after leaving unions (Bureau of Labor Statistics). It's crucial that we adapt our policies to reflect these changing work patterns and ensure workers have access to their rightfully earned retirement funds.
