Turning up the heat

As of this very moment our petition has drawn 4,545 signatures. But even more important than this number are the wonderfully rich comments you have sent me to express your feelings about this issue.

These comments form the basis for my letter to the editor published in today's Globe and Mail which reflects your characterisation of the airlines as "thieves" and their behaviour as "immoral."

I have also sent every one of these hundreds of comments to Transportation Minister Garneau as well as the finance minister, prime minister and leaders of the opposition parties. If they do no more than scan these comments they will realise that not only are the airlines being castigated but also the government for its inaction. Clearly they will be risking political suicide if they provide bailouts before legislating that the airlines return the money they are holding to its rightful owners.
