Our petition will be presented to the House of Commons at the earliest opportunity once Parliament resumes. The danger is that the government will act to bailout the airlines before our petition is presented.

So it is very important that you put the heat on your local MP. Let her or him know that their local constituents are furious at the government's complicity in allowing the Canadian airlines to get away with daylight robbery. Deluge their offices with e-mails and phone calls. Demand to know why the Canadian government has not followed the European Union and the U.S. government in mandating that their airlines provide full refunds instead of vouchers for passengers whose flights were cancelled during the Covid-19 crisis. And let them know exactly where your vote will be directed in the next election should they continue to protect the airlines rather than their constituents.

I have once again e-mailed Transport Minister Garneau this morning, with copies to the Prime Minister, the Finance Minister and the leaders of the opposition parties. Aside from the usual computer-generated acknowledgement, I don't expect much. It is only when they start getting heat from their caucus through your pressure on the individual M.P.'s that they will wake up.

As we approach the finish line, this will likely be the last progress report that I send out. Once again, thank you for your support which has been fantastic. Within a matter of hours the petition will exceed 13,000 signatures. Equally important, if not more so, have been your wonderfully rich and at times heart-breaking comments. You can be assured that every single one of them has been passed onto the politicians.

So one final push. Let's tell our local MP's that we are madder than hell and that they will be risking political suicide if they fail to act now in the best interest of their constituents.

Bob
