As an American citizen deeply concerned about the influence of foreign entities on our political processes, I am writing this petition to raise awareness and demand action. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is a lobbying group that advocates pro-Israel policies to the Congress and Executive Branch of the United States. While its work is legal and legitimate, it operates in a manner similar to foreign agents who represent the interests of other nations.

The Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) was enacted in 1938 with an aim to ensure that the U.S. government and people are informed about sources of information used for propagating ideas and beliefs of foreign entities. According to Department of Justice, as many as 400 entities were registered under FARA by end-2017 (source: DOJ). However, AIPAC has not yet declared itself as such.

By registering under FARA, AIPAC would be required to disclose its finances and detailed information about its activities - a step towards transparency which we believe is necessary for all organizations influencing our political landscape.

This issue should resonate with every American who values transparency in our political processes. It's time we hold all influential bodies accountable for their actions irrespective of their affiliations or causes they support.
