The current prices for food at FoodCity and Spar on the TU Eindhoven campus are not affordable. With meals starting around 6-8 EUROS, cheaper more student friendly options must be provided.

We live in a time where the cost of living is skyrocketing, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for students to make ends meet. All of us who are feeling the pinch of rising inflation. 

It is crucial that our university takes responsibility and provides affordable food options on campus. The current situation is untenable and puts unnecessary financial stress on its student body; this needs to change.

We urge TU Eindhoven University management to review their contracted suppliers and introduce more affordable food options within their premises. By doing so, they will be contributing positively towards easing the financial burden faced by their students. Additionally, improving the nutritional intake of students is directly beneficial to the university itself.

The prices at FoodCity are significantly higher than those in local supermarkets, making it an unaffordable option for many students. According to Nibud, a Dutch National Institute for Family Finance Information, students spend an average of €181 per month on groceries alone. This figure does not include eating out or buying meals from places like FoodCity.
