Demand Action for Street Safety in Garden Grove

The Issue

On July 7, 2024, tragedy happen, A drunk driver struck our family when our 5-year-old son, Jacob didn't survive, driver was 3 times the limit and speeding down Haster St. in Garden Grove, CA. Our family continues hurting with the loss — Jacob's father survived but sustains traumatic brain injuries, and our two daughters, who also survived, and all of us carry the emotional scars of that horrendous day.

Haster St., a corridor between Lampson and Chapman, is notorious for high-speeding vehicles, due to a severe lack of proper traffic control measures. To compound our search we learned that over 48 accidents have occurred on this very section of road. Reckless driving and speeding cars racing down the street have turned it into a perilous zone that endangers every pedestrian, people riding their bikes, and other motorists.

We demand justice for Jacob by creating meaningful and vital change on Haster St. It is imperative that the City of Garden Grove takes immediate action to install Stop signs by Haster and Twin tree  or a cross street, speed signs. Speed bumps. Something should be done! pacify the reckless speeding that occurs daily. Moreover, increasing patrols to discourage speeding and implementing traffic calming measures are critical steps to ensuring ongoing safety for families because theres many schools near by those streets, parks, Vendors and homes.

We must end the unnecessary loss of life and prevent injuries on our streets. In memory of Jacob and for the safety of every resident of Garden Grove, we implore the city's decision-makers to prioritize street safety.

Your support can help make Haster St. a safe place, preventing further family tragedies and protecting our community’s residents. Please sign this petition to demand safer streets in Garden Grove.
